Before renting out your property or an investment, there are many things to consider. From a plumbing perspective, it's ensuring you are able to pass on the full cost of water consumption to your tenants.

That's where we come in! At S&J McCrossan plumbing we can arrange to inspect your property, undertake any compliancy work and provide you with a Water Efficiency Compliance Certificate, Queensland.
What makes a property compliant?
A property is considered water efficient when certain water fixtures meet the following standards:

All internal cold water taps and single mixer taps, except bath taps, have a maximum flow rate of 9 litres per minute

Showerheads have a maximum flow rate of 9 litres per minute.

Toilets are to be dual flush with a maximum flush volume of 6.5 litres on full flush and 3.5 litres on half flush and a maximum average flush volume of 4 litres (based on the average of 1 full flush and 4 half flushes).

Water charging as per rta
(residential tenancies Authority)
As stated by the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) landlords and property owners can only pass on the cost of water consumption to tenants if:

the property is individually metered (or water is delivered by vehicle), and
-
the property is water efficient, and
-
the tenancy agreement states the tenant must pay for water consumption
​
The property owner must pay all fixed charges. The tenant cannot be charged more than the billable amount.
